Grand Rapids, Mich. – August 8, 2016 – Burke Porter Group (BPG), a global leader in the design and manufacture of intelligent machines, has acquired German software-based systems integrator Kleinknecht, and Korvis, an engineering designer and manufacturer of automation equipment.
These transactions were the culmination of a six-year strategy developed by Burke Porter Group CEO David DeBoer to migrate the company to a more accelerated growth trajectory, while expanding capabilities beyond the automotive industry.
On Aug. 3, 2016, BPG signed a definitive agreement to acquire Kleinknecht, a globally recognized producer of integrated machine technologies for automotive powertrain testing, steel processing, and advanced engineering solutions.
BPG closed its second transaction that same month for Korvis, experts in integrated product development and precision motion systems. With locations in Oregon, Singapore, and China, Korvis provides turn-key product design services coupled with advanced manufacturing capabilities to customers within additive manufacturing, life sciences, consumer electronics, and energy markets.
The addition of Korvis and Kleinknecht to the BPG family leverages a unique complement of products and engineering, providing customers with added technologies, greater service, and extended global support. Both agreements provide for management continuity over all business activities.
CEO DeBoer was recently honored as a winner of the 2016 MiBiz Deals and Dealmakers of the Year Awards in the executive category for three transactions completed between July 2015 and June 2016, including the acquisitions of Epic Equipment and Engineering Inc., Universal Balancing, and Cimat. The addition of Korvis and Kleinknecht in August 2016, made for a total of five acquisitions within an 18-month period.
